Galen Marek was the secret apprentice of Darth Vader, and carried out Vader's bidding, until he reached out to the light side and saved the Rebel Alliance, at the cost of his life. When Galen was very young, Darth Vader tracked down and fought Galen's father on the Wookiee home-world of Kashyyyk. When he was about to give his finishing strike, Galen, a young child, took Vader's lightsaber out of his hand. Vader spared him, and sensed great force in him. Vader killed the Jedi (at least he thinks), and took Galen under his wing. He secretly trained him for many years. After the training was completed, Galen was named Starkiller. He was knighted, and he was given three Jedi targets, whom he was to eliminate. To get to his destinations, Starkiller was given a pilot named Juno Eclipse to pilot his ship, the Rogue Shadow. Galen successfully defeated his targets, and was invited to defeat Darth Vader's master; Emperor Palpatine with him. The three entered each other's company on Darth Vader's flagship, but Vader betrayed his apprentice to show his devotion to his master.
