Lucius Malfoy was a Death Eater who served Lord Voldemort. He lost favor with him when he failed to capture the prophecy involving Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter at the Ministry of Magic, and as a result, his son, Draco Malfoy, was charged with the task of killing Dumbledore. He failed to do so, but was spared because Professor Snape stepped and, with the Killing Curse, ended Professor Dumbledore's life in one short stroke. After Dumbledore's death, The Death Eaters started to use Lucius's house, Malfoy Manor, as their head-quarters There he was mocked along with his family, and his family would have been ripped apart if his wife Narcissa stepped in to hold the family together. As a matter of fact, he had his wand taken away from him by Lord Voldemort and his sister-in-law Bellatrix Lestrange took control of his house. He was further humiliated when Harry Potter and Co. escaped from capture, though it cost his former house-elf's, Dobby, life. During the Battle of Hogwarts, his family defected and were saved by Narcissa, who lied to Lord Voldemort by saying that Harry Potter was dead.
